History of Health Sciences Program
Students are admitted to the graduate program in history of health sciences every other year, in odd-numbered years. Applications will be due February 1, 2009, for entry into the program in September 2009. If you are interested in learning more about the program, please contact either Kimberly Bissell, Graduate Program Analyst, or Dr. Elizabeth Watkins, Director of Graduate Studies.
Note: Students with no prior postgraduate education (that is, those who hold only a bachelor's degree, not a master's degree) are strongly encouraged to apply for graduate funding through the National Science Foundation (NSF), the U. S. Department of Education (Dept of Ed), and the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation (WW), before submitting their applications to UCSF, since the application deadlines for these fellowship competitions are due in the autumn of the year prior to the first year of graduate study. NSF offers a three-year Graduate Research Fellowship; the application is due in late November. The Dept of Ed offers a four-year Jacob K. Javits Fellowship; the application is due in early October. WW offers a one-year Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Humanistic Studies; the application is due in November. All three programs cover full tuition and fees and offer generous stipends.
